MonjiFrequency: very rare Organization: pack Activity cycle: any Diet: carnivore Intelligence: from semi to low (2-5) Treasure: none Alignment: lawful evil number Appearing: 3-12 (1% only 1) AC: 7 Movement: 6 Hit Dice: from 1 to 3 THAC0: 1-2 HD: 19, 3 HD: 17 Attacks: 3 Damage per attack: 1-6/1-6/1-10 Special attacks: Fear, Contagion Special defenses: Only hit by +1 weapons MR: 20% Size: M (see desc.) Morale: Elite (13-14) XP: 1 HD: 650, 2 HD: 975, 3 HD: 1400 Monjis are desgusting creatures; their body is covered in a thick reddish (70%) or blackish (30%) hair, they have long sharp claws, large fangs dripping poison and white and inespressive eyes. They are usually 1,80 meters tall but their hunched back makes them seem shorter (about 1,65 m). The monji mostly communicate with growls and grunts, but some of them (relatively few) can utter some words and phrases in common such as 'whut ya dong here' (what are you doing here), or 'give all ya hev or wee kill ya ('give us everything you have or we'll kill you)' etc. Combat: the monji attack three times per round inflicting 1d6 (claws) and 1d8 )bite). When one of these attackes hits, the victim is infected without saving throw; infected ones will turn into a monji in 1d4 days, during which he will be overwhelmed by weakness (as the ring of the same name). To save himself one must use Cure disease, Healing, Lesser Wish or Wish. Monji are stupid creatures, they have no battle tactics and they can't ambush: they constantly growl, shout and scream, giving the chance to the foes to notice their presence before the monji can attack. However the most intelligent monji (int 5) have some more brain and if possible try to ambush opponents withour screaming uselessly before the fight: they are very silent while walking and therefor cause a -1 to surprise penalty on foes. Finally, the monji cause terror to the sight, not so much because of their beastly aspects, but because of their white and inexpressive eyes; all creatures with 5 HD or less will be paralyzed for one round if they fail a ST versus Paralysis. Habitat/society: every 10 monji met there will be one with 3 HD and at least 20 hit points. Ecology: monji once were elves on which monstrours experiments were made, turning them in these unholy creatures. The monji can only die by violence and reproduce infecting their victims with their lethal disease. Source: Fabio.
